Here is a sample of some of our own work

Exterior house painting done right

This house was only eight years old but had faded very badly and the homeowners were very disappointed with the previous paint job. The whole house just looked dull and had lost all the appeal of having chosen a bold coloured paint. When we came and had a look at the house we were certain that the previous painters had not primed the boards before completing their top coats. People often think that pre-primed boards from the timber yard are good enough to top coat without further priming but this is not the case. A coat of primer paint serves a number of important purposes:

  • It seals the surface of the timber, which is the first line of defence against both moisture and the harsh New Zealand UV light penetrating the wood.
  • Primer also provides suitable adhesion between further coats of paint.
  • Lastly, primer can stop stains from within the wood from bleeding up to the surface paint.

A darker paint like the one these homeowners chose is more prone to fading unless prepared competently. It was no bother for us to bring this home back to its former glory.

Another win-win for Prep&PaintPro.

Paint has modernised this Whitby home

This was a large home with a mixture of brick, weatherboard and hardiplank cladding. The bottom had been painted to match the stain so created a large stain coloured wall with no contrast, and blue accented fascias.

We helped to advise on colour combinations using a darker contrast colour on the bottom story and matching fascias. A special sealing primer was recommended and applied over the existing oil stain so that acrylic paint could be used.

This had a dramatic effect on the overall look of the house, really modernising the exterior. The homeowners were pleasantly shocked with the results we achieved, and the painted surfaces will last a lot longer than the original stained ones.

A tired old 70’s house in Paraparaumu

We provided a modern colour update to a tired old 70’s house with a 70’s style paint job.  Too many colours on different surfaces were simplified to only 2 colours – Dulux Okarito White and Dulux Ebony Black.

Reducing the number of colours to a main body colour plus a single accent colour has the dramatic effect of bringing the property up to date.
