Fixing a DIY deck stain gone wrong
This would have to be the worst example of a DIY deck stain I have encountered!
The result of a quick tidy up and stain prior to sale by a previous owner. I was able to remove the previous stain including the stain on the brickwork then professionally prepare and stain the deck.
From a DIY disaster to a deck the new owners can be proud of.
Timber fence cleaned and painted
Built 30 years ago, this fence has received no maintenance at all and that showed with lichen, mould and algae covering it. Biological growth on fences retains moisture encouraging premature deterioration and rot.
The worst of the lichen was hand scraped off the fences. The fences were then power washed with our environmentally friendly cleaning products, rotten timbers replaced and finally painted with two coats of top quality Dulux paint.
Dark painted fences always enhance the look of a shrub lined garden.
Carpeting a garage the correct way
Simply installing garage carpet to the floor would have been ok and that’s what the customer was initially inquiring about. Many installers would simply slap it down as quick as they could.
However that would have still left the rather rustic foundations looking out of character in the recently painted and carpeted garage. The customer accepted my suggestion that carpeting up the foundations and steps would make the garage look really smart. And it does! An example of the value an experienced tradesman can add to a project, with best practices in mind.
