Freshening Up Discoloured Tiles – Beachlands

This Beachlands homeowner was starting to wonder if their tiles had always been that dull, grubby shade of grey. After 15 years of kids, pets, and a busy family life, the tiles in their entranceway, kitchen, and family room looked unappealing. Even though they’d mopped religiously, the tiles just never looked truly clean.

The ProGroup Solution
This project wasn’t just about giving the tiles a once-over with a mop and bucket; this was about fixing the decolouration of the tiles that had faded over years of use. Here’s how we did it:
High-Pressure Deep Cleaning:
We started by using our stand-up cleaning machine, basically an indoor water blaster that sprays water at 1500 psi through a rotating head, blasting away the built-up grime without damaging the tiles. The water is contained within a disc with a brush around the outside, which means no water sprays out the sides, so we could get right up to the edges without soaking the carpet or walls.
Grout Restoration:
The grout was dark and dirty, making the tiles look even duller. After the deep clean, we restored the grout lines using a grout colourant that brightened and sealed them, protecting them against future stains and making the whole floor look brand new.
The Finished Floor
The homeowners were absolutely blown away. They couldn’t believe the transformation and joked that they didn’t even recognise their own tiles. We reassured them that the grime build-up wasn’t their fault; no amount of mopping could have removed the layers of residue that had built up over 15 years.
The dull, discoloured tiles were brought back to life with bright, vibrant colours that made the whole space look bigger and cleaner. The grout lines were fresh and even, giving the floor a polished, cohesive look.
